Tottenham Hotspur is finally ready for a summer outing – with five new signings coming in to combat the loss of Christian Eriksen, among others.
The club has recently undergone two transfer-free windows, but this austerity period will end this summer, with the long-term target, Jack Grealish, stepping on a shortlist of five main goals for the lily white.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs watch Fulham striker Aleksandr Mitrovic, Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen, Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler and Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha.
Of course the clubs have more faith in some of those names than in others, and there is a concern that Zaha has now played itself out of their price range. Similarly, from now on it is unclear whether Mitrovic would be willing to play back-up for Harry Kane – a reservation that the Spurs has recently obstructed with their purchases of strike forces.
Speaking of which, Vincent Janssen is one of those names about to leave to compensate for this income, possibly alongside Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderweireld, who will be available for just £ 26 million after the one-year extension that the club activated last year that activated his release clause.
The main decline, however, would still be Eriksen, while Real Madrid sniffed around the 27-year-old international of Denmark. The current deal from the Dane will end this summer and Spurs is understandably interested in cashing it in instead of letting him leave for free in June 2020.
All of this summer activity is part of a trick to keep Mauricio Pochettino happy in North London, although the management blocks that currently exist at Manchester United and Madrid mean that they are sure he will stay after the end of the season.
