The meeting between the next secretary for communication and transport, Javier Jiménez Espriú, with the businessmen who are part of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), has demonstrated the differences between the two parties with regard to the construction of the new international airport. from Mexico (NAIM).
After three hours of meeting, the team member of the elected president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said that he asked the businessmen "to get rid of the interests of the group to serve the interests of the nation".
Although the private sector presented at this meeting its feasibility study of the airport currently being built in Texcoco, it said that they analyzed the two options -Texcoco or Santa Lucía – by the end of August or by 5 September at the latest.
Jiménez Espriú informed the businessmen that there will be a public consultation, but not a public consultation, on the two possibilities: keep the current work of the NAIM in Texcoco, or build other tracks at the Santa Lucia military airport.
Juan Pablo Castañón, the president of the CCE, said for his part that Jiménez Espriú gave them the document prepared by the president-elect team and an electronic file with two alternatives. In addition, the business community will present its analysis to the next government in fifteen days. .
Castañón, however, explained that the businessmen asked for feedback on the analysis that had been handed to the member of the López Obrador cabinet.
"We believe that the ideal location [del nuevo aeropuerto] is the current and in the dialogue it was proposed to reduce costs and time, while maintaining the basic infrastructure, "said the president of the CCE.
He added that this is the reason why a document was handed over to Jiménez Espriú "in which we present the CCE's position on the alternatives, pro's, contra's and risks, and the observations made in the beginning ".
Castañón explained that they are going to analyze "the basic idea of the different options" and added that the work currently being carried out in Texcoco is very important for the future of Mexico in the next 50 years.
"We want to know what the scientific-technological base is to consider other options," he said.
In this connection, the chairman of the National Council for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (CNA), Bosco de la Vega, said that there was even an option C, which would result from a proposal with a view to 2050. Jiménez Espriú, however, closed a third alternative.
He said that the private sector "expects a technical decision, future and strength for our country in terms of connectivity."
Before entering the meeting, the President of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin), Francisco Cervantes said: "We will listen to them, we will hear the proposals and from there we will start".
The president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco), José Manuel López Campos, explained that the documents that brighten up the team of the elected president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, were not official: "today they will give us the official opinion. "
Mexico Toluca train. The next government will also look at the work of the Mexico Toluca train, which is experiencing problems, said the future communications secretary.
The railroad work "has some problems", so it will be analyzed, he said before he entered the meeting with members of the CCE.
Jiménez Espriú noted that there are many important infrastructure projects for the country that will be analyzed; however, during this meeting there was no mention of the Mayan train or any other project, but only of the NAIM.
