MEXICO CITY (APR) .- The storm that struck the country's capital yesterday afternoon was "the strongest of the season" to date, whose intensity had not been presented in the last two years, informed the head of government, José Ramón Amieva .

The Mexico City Water System (Sacmex) reported that the amount of rain recorded in the country's capital broke two historical records: it had a maximum of 221 millimeters (mm) for a cumulative August (from day 1 to 31) and reached yesterday they 234 mm.
The second record refers to the accumulated rainfall from January to August. In that sense, the year was the highest recorded rainfall in 1992 when it reached 604 mm; but last night the collected January-August reached 654 mm.
