The Matoub-Lounès prize against forgetting is presented posthumously on 9 October next to Kabyle's pillar, song and poetry, Slimane Azem.

It is a very sensible choice that has just been made by the initiators of the Matoub-Lounès prize against forgetting organized around the cultural association "Amgud" of Drâa El Mizan in the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou. By awarding the prize in question to Slimane Azem, it is both a tribute to the rebel, but also to his oldest. This choice was motivated, we learn from the organizers, by the fact that this year 2018 commemorates the centenary of the birth of Slimane Azem that was born in the village of Agouni Gueghrane in the Ouadhias region, 19 September 1918. It was therefore necessary to honor this monument that inspired and marked Matoub Lounès, especially on a musical level. Should we also remember that Matoub Lounès made a large number of music composed by Slimane Azem, not only to pay tribute to the latter, but also to interpret his own texts?

«Daghrib dhavarani»
Under the music composed by Slimane Azem who submitted Matoub Lounès to the point of singing them in his own albums, we will
"Daghrib dhavarani", "Attas ay sebregh", "A Muh a Muh",
"Effegh ayajrad tamurt-iw", etc.
"Atas ay sebregh" is initially a love song sung by Slimane Azem and Matoub took it back to pay a moving tribute to Slimane Azem after his death in France on 28 January 1983. Matoub Lounès also mentioned this album:
"Tamaslayth n Slimane".
The Rebelle vehemently denounces the fact that Slimane Azem lived banished during his life, far from his native country and deprived of his own. The fact that Slimane Azem was censored, especially by the public media (radio, television and newspapers), in the days of the only party, also revolted against Matoub Lounes who in his songs devoted to "Aami speaks Slimane," as Taourirt Moussa & # 39; s son affectionately mentioned it in one of his first numbers. The latter entitled "Ruh ayaqchich" is an imaginary dialogue between Slimane Azem and Matoub Lounès.

An extraordinarily poetic piece
Matoub tries to convince Slimane Azem and those who prevent him from returning to the herd. Lounès Matoub also describes Slimane Azem. This is an extraordinary and poetic poetic piece that was hardly sung when Matoub Lounès started his career, that is, a year after the release of his first album entitled "A yizem". Matoub Lounès is inspired and drawn by Slimane Azem, well before the start of his career and until the end. Moreover, a year before his assassination on June 25, 1998, in his penultimate album entitled "In the name of all my people", Matoub Lounès also resumed the music of the song "Effegh a yajrad tamurtiw", interpreting it with his own words. We can therefore conclude that Slimane Azem was undeniably one of the favorite masters of Matoub Lounès. The latter is largely due to Slimane Azem in the incredible artistic breakthrough that the rebel had. It is no coincidence, however, that Matoub Lounès and Slimane Azem were the only two Kabyle singers who were banned before 1988 to broadcast on Algerian radio (even on Kabyle radio, Channel 2).
Only after the events in October 1988 were the songs of Slimane Azem and Matoub Lounès finally "tolerated" on the air. In view of all these criteria and so many others, we conclude that the choice of the cultural association "Amgud" Drâa El Mizan, to posthumously reward the award Matoub Lounès against oblivion, edition 2018, Slimane Azem is well thought through and very sensible. Finally, note that in addition to Slimane Azem, two other personalities from the cultural world will also receive the same prize. For the time being, the names of these have not yet been announced by the organizers of this award.
