12% increase in tourist nights to finish …

The number of overnight stays in hotels in Marrakech increased by 12% in the first 7 months of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017.

According to the Regional Tourism Council of Marrakech (CRT), the number of overnight stays during the period from January to July 2018 amounted to 4,678,461 overnight stays, compared with 4,188,185 overnight stays in the same period of the previous year.

The occupancy rate reached 56% at the end of July 2018, compared to 50% in the same period of 2017.

According to nationalities, Scandinavian tourists booked the highest increase (+ 50%), followed by Dutch and Spanish (+ 42% each), Americans (+ 26%), Germans (+ 22%), French (+ 15%), Arab countries (+ 8%) and the British (+ 2%), while the Belgian market fell by 3%.

The average length of stay in the period January-July 2018 was 3 nights, the same duration in the same period a year ago.
