Casablanca: two policemen in the heart of a corruption investigation

The department for the departmental police of Casablanca opened a judicial investigation on Saturday, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, against two police officers, a brigadier-in-chief and a brigadier general, for their alleged involvement in a corruption case, says the Directorate-General for National Security (DGSN).

The investigation was opened following a complaint filed by a citizen of an Arab country and his wife of Moroccan nationality claiming to have been detained by two police officers who asked him for a sum of money to prevent them from being fined for traffic violation, the DGSN says in a communiqué.

The investigation by the judicial police services made it possible to identify the two policemen who were subjected to an investigation. The judiciary to explain the ins and outs of this case adds the same source. The two suspects were placed in police custody in accordance with the instructions of the competent prosecutor's office, while the DGSN instituted disciplinary proceedings against them, pending the outcome of the ongoing criminal investigation, the statement concluded.
