Students in pre-school classes have a better chance of becoming a member of the grandes écoles. The Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research has decided the number of places in the major and national institutes for candidates in physics, engineering, technology and industrial sciences in preparatory lessons.
MEN has also decided to broaden the criteria for selecting candidates from these fields in order to gain access to the different specialties and departments within these institutions. These decisions are taken after consultation with the national committee responsible for coordinating the joint national competition for access to these grandes écoles.
