Morning – 29 dead and 1,926 injured in the urban area in one week



A total of 29 people were killed and 1,926 others injured, including 76 serious, in 1.432 traffic accidents occurred in the urban perimeter during the week from 13 to 19 August 2018, says the Directorate-General for National Security (DGSN)).

These accidents are mainly due to the fact that pedestrians and drivers do not participate, non-compliance with traffic lights and stop signs, lack of control over vehicles, failure to respect the priority, speeding, traffic in the left lane and in the bans direction, drink-driving, unauthorized change of direction and inadequate exceedance, the DGSN said in a statement.

Regarding the control and repression of the infringements, the security services identified 32,075 offenses and wrote 8,710 minutes that were submitted to the Public Prosecution Service, while 23,365 transaction fines were paid.

In addition, DGSN announced that the amounts collected were 5,381,775 dirhams, indicating the seizure of 4,636 vehicles, the seizure of 3,942 documents and the withdrawal of 132 vehicles.
