The celebration of Princess Lalla Meryem's birthday is an appropriate occasion to emphasize the strong and unwavering commitment of His Royal Highness in favor of the emancipation of Moroccan women and the blooming of the child. This happy event, celebrated on August 26 of each year, celebrates the nobleness of the actions carried out relentlessly by HRH Princess Lalla Meryem to ensure the preservation of the achievements of women while defending the interests of childhood in Morocco, especially the one in a difficult situation.
Concerned about the future of Moroccan women, princess Lalla Meryem, president of the National Union of Women of Morocco (UNFM), held a ceremony in March in Marrakech on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day. On this occasion Her Royal Highness was named "Goodwill Ambassador" of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to act in such important areas as the empowerment of women and the promotion of the values ​​of the family.
The celebration of international women's day was marked by the signing, during a ceremony chaired by HRH Princess Lalla Meryem, of two treaties between, on the one hand, the National Union of Women of Morocco and, on the other hand, the prosecutor's office and the Moroccan agency for international cooperation ( AMCI). The first treaty is aimed at creating cells for the care of women and children in the courts, while the second treaty is aimed at strengthening the capacities of UNFM executives to promote the Union's action. at the African level.
Indeed, Her Royal Highness has been involved for several years in the struggle to promote the conditions of women and children, in her capacity as President, alongside the National Union of Women of Morocco, the National Observatory for Children's Rights (ONDE). In this spirit, HRH princess Lalla Meryem was president of the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat last February, the closing ceremony of the meeting organized by these two institutions under the theme: "Woman and child in precarious situation".
A month earlier Her Royal Highness was chairman of the Health Center-Zerktouni Delivery Unit, Massira in Marrakesh, the immunization operation of the children and the ceremony of presenting the balance of 30 years of action serving the right of the child to vaccination. It is thanks to the concern of HM King Mohammed VI and the effective involvement of HRH Princess Lalla Meryem that in 2018 Morocco celebrates its 30th anniversary of the implementation of the National Immunization Program. the slogan "30 years in service of the right of the child to vaccination".

In Paris, Her Royal Highness, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, participated in November 2017 during the tribute to Ms Irina Bokova, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. and culture (Unesco), at the end of his mandate at the head of this organization. In October of the same year, Zr. Princess Lalla Meryem His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Forum of Leaders of the 39th session of the General Conference of Unesco held at the headquarters of the Organization in Paris. The Leaders & # 39; Forum, attended by many heads of state and government, was held under the theme "Sustainable development goals and the role of Unesco in the multilateral system".
The immutable and constant dedication of Princess Lalla Meryem to the case of the woman and the child does not stop there. Her Royal Highness is also chairman of the Parliament of the Child, the Moroccan Association of support to Unicef ​​and the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans living abroad. Her Royal Highness is also honorary president of several associations that act in the interests of childhood, in particular the Association for the help and support of children with asthma, the "Good works of the Heart" and the association "The Future" of parents and friends of children with cancer. Thus the exceptional course of His Royal Highness earned him the dedication of the national and international press and the recognition of many heads of institutions acting for the rights of women and children, a dedication of his great dynamism and his noble devotion to the social cause. . In 2010 Senior Princess Lalla Meryem, as President of the UNFM, received the "Women Leaders Worldwide" Award, an international distinction awarded by the association of the same name. In recognition of her efforts, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem also received the 2011 Mediterranean Children's Prize. This prize was presented by the Mediterranean Foundation for Peace to Her Royal Highness as a sign of recognition for all her works and her actions in favor of the protection of children's rights.
