Car can not avoid cyclist, man (63) crashes in Valkenswaard

VALKENSWAARD – A 63-year-old man from Belgium was killed on Wednesday afternoon in an accident on the Luikerweg in Valkenswaard. That reports the police.

The victim crossed the Luikerweg with another cyclist from the Achterste Brug. A Belgian motorist who drove from Valkenswaard to the Belgian border, had to swerve but could not prevent him from shooting his 63-year-old compatriot.

Emergency services were quickly on site. A trauma helicopter provided assistance. But attempts to resuscitate the victim were in vain.

The Luikerweg was closed. This created a traffic jam of one kilometer in the direction Eindhoven – Neerpelt. The traffic was diverted.
