'Profile of terrorism suspect hardly differs from ordinary criminal' NOW

"Their profile hardly differs from that of ordinary criminals," says criminologist Elanie Rodermond, one of the researchers, in NRC.

The research, which will be published on Friday, shows that a large number of Dutch terrorist suspects have been arrested several times by the police for common offenses. It concerns 61.8 percent of 279 suspects who watched the NSCR.

The researchers had a database from the Public Prosecution Service containing almost all Dutch terrorism suspects of the past fourteen years. It is the first time in the Netherlands that the background of terrorist suspects has been looked at on this scale.
