The weapon was found in the house in Amsterdam Slotermeer where one of the suspects of the attack was arrested.
The Public Prosecutor assumes that the victim was to be shot but that the weapon service refused. Then the 31-year-old man from Alkmaar was beaten on the head several times with the barrel of the gun.
He was found severely injured on the Moezelhavenweg Tuesday morning for the Spy City store where he works. The man is still in the hospital, but he is out of danger.
Three suspects have been arrested
Three suspects were arrested in the investigation. It is a 53-year-old man without a permanent place of residence, an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy, both from Amsterdam.
According to AT5 it is a young couple and their uncle. The Amsterdam city channel reports that the boy put a picture of himself with a firearm on Instagram one day before his arrest. On images of AT5 is to see how the suspects are arrested.
On Wednesday it was reported that three men had been arrested that day, but one of the men was released that same night, whereupon the woman was arrested. The examining magistrate has decided on Friday that they will stay in custody for fourteen days longer.
The men and the woman could be arrested after the car was found on the A.A.H thanks to a tip. Struijckenkade, also in Slotermeer. Further research led to the house, not far from the location of the car.
The motive for the assassination attempt is not clear. The three suspects are in complete restraint, which means that they can only have contact with their lawyer.
Store closed on the orders of Halsema
The spy shop was closed Friday by order of the Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema. In the shop, eavesdropping equipment is sold. According to the municipality, it must be prevented that the store "can continue to play a role in facilitating criminal activities that affect public order".
"The violent incident has severely damaged the living and social climate and seriously disrupted public order," according to the municipality's statement.
