The newspaper reported that the top members of the British royal family will reveal that they received the inoculation “to encourage more people to get the vital shot,” over fears that so-called anti-vaxxers will curb enthusiasm for it.
Britain gave emergency consent to the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine on Wednesday. Residents of retirement homes and their carers will be the first to be vaccinated, followed by people over 80 and primary health and care personnel. Other elderly and vulnerable people will be next, with the rest of the population given priority based on age.
Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Britain has ordered a total of 40 million doses of the vaccine and is expected to receive an initial batch of 800,000 doses to begin vaccinating next week.
