Mr. Morrison took the best job yesterday and defeated Peter Dutton briefly in a match provoked by Malcolm Turnbull who lost a leading voice.

The former treasurer was sworn in last night after a tumultuous few days as the 30th Australian Prime Minister.

On this side of the Tasman, Winston Peters said that there are positive aspects to the power of Mr. Morrison.

"We are dealing with someone who is familiar with the political psyche of New Zealand, the composition of New Zealand, how [we] think and work, so I can imagine that it is actually a very good start, "he said.

Mr. Morrison has previously lived and worked in New Zealand and was involved in the high-profile 100 percent pure tourist campaign in New Zealand.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spoke with Mr. Morrison yesterday afternoon.

She said that the close ties of Mr. Morrison with New Zealand will be helpful in building their relationship.

"Australia is the most important partner of New Zealand," said Mrs. Ardern.

"We enjoy close ties in all areas of our relationship, including in the areas of trade, economy, defense and security, and we work closely together in our region and on the international scene."

"I look forward to working with Mr. Morrison to promote that."

But Mrs. Ardern also recognized the work Malcolm Turnbull had done while in the office.

"He was instrumental in setting up the Pathway to Citizenship, allowing many New Zealanders to regularize their status in Australia."
