Twyford said he did not expect rents to rise thanks to reforms, and that he had studied experiences in other countries to prove this.

It is unlikely that the reforms will become law before the middle of 2020.

The government will discuss the proposals for eight weeks.

Currently, landlords can cancel tenants without a reason with a notice period of 90 days or for a specific reason such as late rent with a notice period of 42 days.

One of the proposals would put an end to the denunciations without ceasing, but would constitute a number of new legitimate reasons for landlords to expel "rogue states".
