According to the police, a young woman was attacked in Dunedin in the early hours of Sunday morning and wants to talk to the mysterious man who confronted the attacker.
Detective Sergeant Neil Lowden said that a man was understood to have approached a young woman from behind and attacked her in Bath St, central Dunedin, shortly after 1am.
Lowden said that she was treated in Dunedin Hospital for minor injuries before she was discharged.

He said that the police asked for information and wanted to speak to anyone who noticed any suspicious people or activities in the area around this time.
The police especially wanted to talk to a man who thought he had intervened during the attack, which is thought to have prevented further damage to the woman.
