In total, four people died in a serious car accident at provincial road 651 in Telemark. A person has flown to Ullevål's air ambulance.
It confirms the southeastern police district in one Twitter Message just before 17:00 on Sunday afternoon:
"Four people were killed in a serious traffic accident," the South East Police District writes on Twitter at six o'clock on Sunday.
The accident happened just like the provincial road past Gaustatoppen on Sunday afternoon. Until now, the police know little about the course of events after this and wants to contact more witnesses.
"The police were told that another car, possibly a gray or blue Audi A3, was early on the spot after the accident, the police had no contact with those in this car and would like to contact them, the police wrote.
The police were informed of the accident at 13.44. The first reports suggested that it was a serious accident involving only one car. At least one of the five in the car was stuck.
The police know who the owner of the car is and still work to get in touch with family members. They also want to come into contact with witnesses who can know something about what happened.
"If someone has information about the police, we want them to contact us," says Operations Manager Rune Hunshamar in the Southeast Police district of NTB.
Both the accident group of the Norwegian Public Road Administration and the forensic investigation are present at the scene of the accident.
So far no one can go from Gaudatoppen to Rjukan, nor from Rjukan to provincial road 651, while emergency services work locally.
"This is a very serious accident and the road will be closed for a long time," Hunshamar said.
