One person died in a traffic accident in Lindås



The police confirm that a person died after a head-on collision between a passenger car and a truck in Lindås.


All emergency services broke out when the message about a collision on provincial road 57 at Herland in Lindås arrived on Wednesday morning.

There was a passenger car and a truck that collided at the front and the car was out of the way after the accident.

A person in the car was stuck and crews from the fire brigade immediately started to get rid of them.

Death accident in the same area in July: Heavy busy road

Relatives not registered

Operations Manager Terje Magnussen at the West Police District confirms that there was one person in every car.

"Poor people are not informed, so we do not assume the age and sex of the person who died," says Magnussen.

Shortly after the accident the police and the fire brigade declared that it was a serious accident.

"The truck driver must be physically undamaged," said Jan Ove Haga, commander in chief of the 110 station earlier today.

Recommended diversion

The road between Herland and Åse on provincial road 57 was closed after the accident and will be closed for a while.


The Road Traffic Center recommends a detour via provincial road 565 in Radøy.

– At 9:30 am, the police reported a passenger car and a car train that had run across Lindwegsvegen between Åse and Herland before the provincial road, said police chief service officer Sindre Erstad at Nordhordland Länsmannskontor.

The truck driver was taken to the asylum in Nordhordland for inspection.

Crime Scene Investigation

"Crime police at the police and the accident group at the Norwegian public road administration are on site and will carry out their site investigations," police chief Ernst said.
