– Different students go to school and have fewer falls along the way. Several points are awarded to the courses and the proportion of undergraduate students has decreased for the second consecutive year. This provides more and better learning for the students ", says Jan Tore Sanner (H), Minister of Knowledge.
The provisional absenteeism figures from the Education Directorate for the 2017-18 school year show that the absence has changed little since the 2016-17 school year, the first year after the introduction of the absence limit. The number of days of absence is three, the same as in the previous school year. Prior to the introduction of the absence limit, the absence of the day was approximately five days.
The hourly course has increased slightly from one hour from the school year 2016-17 to 2017-18 (from 9 to 10 hours). The figures show that the absence of time has increased on Vg2 and Vg3, while Vg1 is comparable with the previous school year.
In general, absenteeism decreased by around 40 percent after the absence limit was introduced in the autumn of 2016.

The hourly wage in occupations is lower than in the preparation of the research. Students in vocational education have three days and 8 hours of absence, while students who study have three days and 11 hours. This difference has slightly increased since the previous school year.
"We know there is a link between a little absence at school and getting an offer for an internship, so it is both good and important that development is positive for vocational training programs," Sanner says.
The figures also show that the students with the highest absence now have 25% less day off than before the absence limit was introduced. More than 33,000 students have 0 days of absence.
"We will continue to monitor developments closely, especially with regard to vulnerable student groups and different practices that may lead to different treatment for students.The second interim report on the absence limit will be published later this autumn." The percentage of students who do not obtain grades because they have exceeded the absence limit or for which the assessment basis for one or more subjects is lacking has generally declined. From 3.2 percent school year 2016-17 to 3 percent last school year. There is also a decrease in the percentage that gets the grade 1, which corresponds to strokes.
Although at the national level the number of students who do not obtain figures decreases, there are differences between the provinces. In Telemark and Finnmark, the share fell the most, while it rose in Oslo and West Agder. (NTB)
