The state has saved almost S / 1,300 million with the austerity measures that the government issued on May 4 via Emergency Decree 005, according to unveiled the Minister of Economy and Finance, Carlos Oliva.
"The information we have so far is that only in the ministries was one reduction of the budget of S / 969.1 million and in government agencies reductions of S / 310 million were achieved, "he said during his presentation in the Budget Committee of the Congress of the Republic.
But the minister said that with the new project of Act 02855/2017-PE, which provides for measures for cuts in public spending, it tries to add 10 public entities that have been omitted of Emergency Decree 005.
"A few months ago the Urgent Decree 005 was introduced, dictating a series of austerity measures, mainly by the national government, but some autonomous agencies were excluded," he said.
According to the relevant law, the Austerity measures must be applied in the Congress of the Republic, the Office of the Comptroller-General of the Republic, the Public Prosecutor, the Judicial Power and the National Council of Magistracy (CNM).
also should be applied in the Ombudsman's office, the Constitutional Court, the National Office for Electoral Processing (ONPE), the national register of identification and marital status (Reniec) and the National Jury of Elections (JNE).
"The idea behind this project is to include these entities, so that they can determine which austerity measures they would apply within their own autonomy," said the minister.
