UPDATE 10:45 A.M.
The plenary meeting Congress agrees with an earlier question – put forward by Mauricio Mulder – to apply 60 days penalty against Carlos Bruce , in addition to a public warning. In this way there will be no vote on his suspension of functions.
The decision is for 54 for, 41 against and 14 abstentions.
UPDATE 10:30 A.M.
The chairman of the Ethics Commission, Janet Sánchez, supported the recommendation to punish 60 days for his benchmate and He remembered how the events took place.
Carlos Bruce on the other hand, made a mea culpa about what happened and pointed out that what happened was a mistake. "I made a mistake when sending a badly written letter (…) I was the one who made the mistake", said the parliamentarian.
According to the legislature, the letter sent from his office to request receipt was prepared by his secretary and he signed it without knowing its contents.
The parliamentary Tamar Arimborgo of Fujimorista, however, gave the version of Bruce little requested to increase the suspension from 60 to 120 days.
Alberto de Belaunde considered that in the meantime only a warning should come. This same position was expressed by the Peruvian spokesman for the Kambio, Gilbert Violeta.
The plenary meeting Congress of the Republic will decide today whether to suspend his duties for 60 days for the Congressman of Peruvians for the Kambio (PpK), Carlos Bruce , for the alleged irregular act committed in December 2016.
In December 2016 Carlos Bruce sent a letter to General PNP Hugo Begazo Bedoya where he says he was going to make the opening of his restaurant La Trastienda. Some authorities would attend the event, the congressman wrote in the letter.
Due to the concentration of invited officials, the legislator considered it necessary to inform the PNP. The letter explicitly asks for police protection for the event; the Congressman pointed out, however, that it was a typing error.
"I did not speak to the general or anyone, my intention was to warn that there would be an agglomeration of people, and at the last minute we realized that we could generate a problem," Bruce said later.
