Jorge Reyes, manager of services to the city of Rimac, reported that the collapsed house in block 4 of Paita is not a cultural heritage.
"It is a historic house because it is more than 400 years old [de antigüedad]but it is not declared as a patrimony. Even though representatives from the Ministry of Culture confirmed it, "Reyes said.
The mayor also said that civil protection performed an assessment to determine whether there is a risk in the habitability of the site.
"They have already carried out the evaluations and can, according to what is seen, declare themselves at a high risk, if that is the case, they will be notified to the neighbors and it is their ability whether they decide to stay or not. "Reyes said.
Because of the collapse that took place during this early morning, 3 houses of the 24 that are part of the fifth are affected. In total there would be 100 people living in the place.
Teresa Ramírez, daughter of the owner of one of the affected possessions, complained that when they wanted to make spare parts, the municipality told them they could not because it was a house that was considered a cultural heritage.
"Before they told us they could not, now that this happened, they say it is not [patrimonio] because they want to take us out. We live here for more than 70 years. We can not go anywhere else ", Ramírez said.
