One of the objectives of the national day against anemia is to ensure that all children in the country reach the first year of life without anemia and have the right weight and length.
From this until next Sunday, the fourth national conference against anemia will be held to promote the prevention of this disease in children under three and pregnant adolescent women.
The Minister for Health, Silvia Pessah, stressed that the sector's actions are being strengthened and therefore recalled that during this and all campaigns planned for this year, free screening will be conducted to reduce the level of hemoglobin in the blood of those target audience.
He explained that thousands of points of attention have been around the country today. "We work multi-sectorally in the regions where there is more anemia, and in some we have already reduced the indices, such as Amazonas, Ayacucho, La Libertad, Puno, San Martin and Ucayali," he said.
The minister emphasized that treatment against anemia is absolutely free, regardless of the insurance that the person has.
In these days the specialists deliver iron supplements in drops (children from 0 to 6 months), syrups (children aged 6 to 35 months) and tablets for pregnant women.
