Nerdgasm | ASUS | I tried the new ASUS Zenbook Flip S, a very versatile convertible notebook | TECHNOLOGY

Asus continues to invest in the introduction of new laptops, not only for the highly competitive gaming world, but also for everyday work tasks. This time it will be presented in the Peruvian market with the new one ASUS Zenbook Flip S UX371, a notebook that takes versatility to a new level without losing power.

We know that a laptop, no matter how portable it is, always needs support in parts that make it heavy and uncomfortable to carry. These characteristics play a role in balancing the actions that can be performed with the machine and the need to move.

Along these lines, the so-called notebooks appeared, a kind of thinner, smaller and more versatile laptops, with enough capacity to respond to everyday work tasks.

With all this in mind, technology companies continued to innovate to get the best equipment in terms of components and technology, while keeping up with the minimalist trend of notebook size, weight and portability.

It is in this line that it is new Zenbook Flip S, equipment with which ASUS surprises offers versatility and portability without neglecting technology. A notebook that has nothing to envy on the best laptops on the market.

DESIGN

A hallmark of ASUS is the sleek design of its devices, carefully finished in Jade Black with carved edges. The keyboard is well distributed over the entire keyboard and the central and bottom touchpad with the dual function of the numeric keypad and mouse.

The most important thing about this equipment, however, is the 360 ° capability provided by the ErgoLift hinge, which brings the screen completely to the back of the equipment to use it as a tablet or in different positions with the angles created as support.

This ability to use the notebook and sacrifice the keyboard is no problem thanks to the NanoEdge touchscreen, ideal for using the ASUS Pen, a pen with surprising sensitivity to cursor actions and hassle-free drawing or writing on the screen.

Something that I thought could cause some annoyance is the keyboard backlight that seems to escape between each key. For nocturnal people like me, this lighting is not at all discreet and can rather be considered annoying.

PORTS AND CONNECTIVITY

In keeping with the latest interfaces, this notebook decided to be minimalist in terms of ports, as it was my main and perhaps only problem with the equipment.

The Zenbook Flip S comes with the smallest power button I have come across and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port on the right. On the left is a full-size HDMI 2.0 port and two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports. Where do I connect my headphones? Asus solves it with an adapter cable that picks up one of the USB-C Thunderbolt 4. Unfortunately.

I’ve always criticized brands forcing users to buy additional adapters to connect their peripherals. I understand that one needs to evolve towards the next generation of connectors and that this was the only way to slim down the equipment, but that greatly limits the work and enjoyment of many users.

DISPLAY AND PROCESSOR

The workhorse of this team is undoubtedly in this section. The high processing power offered by the Intel® EVO ™ platform, equipped with the latest 11th generation Intel® Core ™ i7 processor, makes this notebook a true envy of the most supportive laptops.

A real feat that these components fit into an ultra-thin chassis that weighs just 13.9mm thick and 1.2kg.

However, the best in my opinion is the NanoEdge OLED UHD touchscreen up to 4K with DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification which offers a fairly high image and color quality. The ultra-fast response time of 0.2 ms also ensures blur-free action content and smooth scrolling.

The touchscreen and pressure recognition with the Asus pen make drawing a very pleasant activity. A friend of a designer had the opportunity to do a few strokes and agreed with me about the fantastic capabilities of this notebook in this regard.

IMPACT

This new notebook has much more than you would expect from a computer of this size and features. Its versatility makes it perfect for everyday work and portability.

The best part is the high processing power and the high quality touchscreen, with vivid and very true colors. However, the few ports and the need for additional adapters to fully enjoy the functionalities are a problem for many users.
