Iloilo City– Three officers were injured after a land mine exploded on Friday in the city of Leon, province of Iloilo.

Chief Inspector Joem Malong, spokesman for the regional police station (PRO-6), identified the wounded as chief inspector of police Abner Jordan, policeman 2 Rosenie Lebuna and police officer 1 Mark Ringo Fernando.

An incident report showed that agents under the 1st mobile platoon under the 601st mobile company patrolled Friday morning in the village of Isian Victoria when an improvised explosive (IED) went off.

This led to a 15-minute gunfight with presumably members of the New People & # 39; s Army (NPA) until they retreated in different directions. There is a constant pursuit.

The three agents suffered minor injuries in the upper part of their bodies and the authorities also believe that the NPA rebels have also been injured.

The attack came a week after seven alleged NPA rebels were shot in San Jose, Antique by units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the 61st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (61 IB).
