DAVAO CITY – The police killed a man who reportedly forced himself into the residence of a businessman in the upscale Woodridge Park Subdivision in Davao City on Wednesday morning, according to a report issued by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).
DCPO spokesman Senior Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan said Harland O. Garvida invaded the house of Allen de Vera and attacked him.
She said the Vera took his Glock 9 mm and tried to shoot Garvida, but there was a scuffle between them when the suspect tried to wrench the house owner's gun.
The firing of the 46-year-old house of the family helps Anna Cecilia Flores, who survived with a slight injury in her right shoulder.
The Vera suffered a break in his shoulder and other injuries in various parts of his body when he wrestled with the suspect, Gaspan said.
She said the businessman had succeeded in asking the police for help.
Commander of the Talomo police station Chief Insp. Ronald Lao tried to negotiate with the suspect, but he resisted arrest.
She said that Garvida had put his team of Special Weapons and Tactics PO3 Junrell Tan in his left arm and forced the police officers to kill the suspect to immobilize him.
