MANILA – The Commission for Elections (Comelec) will deploy special registration teams on 4-6 September to hold special registration in connection with the popular vote for the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR), as provided for in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) .
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said that the creation of the teams complements the satellite registration that is held in different parts of the country.
"Comelec will carry out intensified registration activities in relation to # BOL plebiscite preparations," said the official official of the poll.
Based on the proposed BAR, the provinces that are looking for inclusion are the current provinces under the autonomous region in Mindanao, the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
There are 39 barangays in North Cotabato, six municipalities in Lanao del Norte and the cities Cotabato in Maguindanao and Isabela in Basilan.
The plebiscite will be held in early January 2019.
The system of continued registration of voters resumed on 2 July and runs until 29 September.
