The social projects, carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Development (DSWD), comprise the Basic Transitory Family Support Package worth P1.43 billion for 25,537 displaced families.

Recipients also receive an additional P675.20 million from the Provision or Livelihood Settlement Grants program.

The release also includes a P183.02 million operational support fund for administrative expenditure.

The funding comes from the Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (MRRRP), which is supported by the NDR (National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management) fund of 25.5 billion euros.

"It is striking that P10 billion is allocated in the General Credit Act for 2011 (GAA) of the Marawi Restoration, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program, and so far a total of P4.59 billion of the P10 billion allocation has been released." the DBM.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said it will build a P76 million water system by December 2019 for more than 2,156 households.

The government is responsible for the rehabilitation outside the most affected area of the city, and for meeting the needs of families, while a private consortium is responsible for the rehabilitative ground zero, which is expected to start next month. – Elijah Joseph C. Tubayan
