Duterte renews calls for peace with NPA

PRESIDENT Duterte said on Friday that he did not give up peace while he renewed his call to end the hostilities between the government and the New People & # 39; s Army.

Duterte appealed in the midst of his latest criticism of the founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines, Joma Sison, who claimed that the president was recently in a coma.

In a speech in Davao City, Duterte said that a revolution would not accelerate the progress and development of a country.

"Life is not so simple, life has to evolve, and progress and development can not be rushed by revolution, if you always call for revolution and kill people, nothing good happens to our nation," Duterte said. So kung maaari long sana ayaw ko talaga. That is my mission. I want peace for my country, "he added.

Duterte said he will bring former female rebels from the New People & # 39; s Army who have surrendered to the government to China and Hong Kong to see economic development there.

The president noted that China had adopted the characteristics of a capitalist economy, even though it had a communist ideology at the time.

"I'll let you go to China and Hong Kong, personally see what kind of communism it is … See how good it is, how modern these communists are," Duterte said.

Duterte canceled last November's peace talks with the CPP NPA National Democratic Front, citing their insincerity to formal negotiations and violating their own unilateral cease-fire.

A few months later in March, Duterte announced that he was prepared to give the peace talks a last chance, but said it should be done in the country. Duterte assured the security of Sison, but the communist leader rejected the Chief Executive's situation.

Sison said they would no longer speak peace with the government under the leadership of Duterte and instead support the efforts to drive him out.

Duterte compared the NPA last month with robots that fight for nothing but one corrupt spirit. & # 39; You fight for a bankrupt brain. Isang tao lang ang nag-iisip. There is only one person who uses his damn gray matter between his ear. Para kayong robot, kung ano & # 39; yung inuutos, & # 39; he said.
