DAGUPAN CITY – A former barangay kagawad and a professor at the University of Luzon were killed while another was injured in a shooting incident for a restaurant in the Tapuac district in this city.



A report from the Dagupan City Police identified the victims, such as former kagawad Johnny Baniqued, 47, who was also a businessman, and Professor Oscar Fernandez, who had both been declared dead on arrival at the Nazareth hospital on Perez Blvd. The wounded victim was identified as Peter Ramos, 44, married, resident of Rivera St., barangay IV, and who is now being treated by the Trauma Specialist Group or Hospitals in the Tapuac district.

Probers said that on Thursday at about 21:15 hours the victims were about to board their vehicle, a Mitsubishi Montero with plate number NJ 4307 for the restaurant De Luxe in Tapuac district when unknown male suspects shot at them. The suspects escaped on foot after the incident.

Baniqued and Fernandez have contracted multiple gunshot wounds while Ramos got four gunshot wounds on his back.

Lingayen's SOCO staff recovered from the crime scene were 16 used cal 45 cartridges, five deformed bullets, a live calf ammunition. 45 and two fragmented bullets.

The police are investigating the incident.
