DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara Duterte denied support to the broadcaster Jay Sonza, whose name was suggested by those who were considered head of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), after reports that current PCOO head Martin Andanar was on his way.
"I do not know that Mr. Sonza is looking for a PCOO post," the mayor said in a text message that the city information office sent here. "I'm not sure I ever met him, I can not remember any meeting, informal or official, but I know he's close to PRD," she said, referring to President Rodrigo Duterte.
The news site Politiko reported earlier that Sonza was seen as the new communications secretary to replace Andanar and that he was close to the mayor.
Asking for reaction, Andanar confirmed in an SMS no confirmation nor denied that he was on his way as communications secretary.
"We all serve for the pleasure of the president," he told INQUIRER.net.
