LUCENA CITY – Banned Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria "Joma" Sison on Wednesday President Rodrigo Duterte said was "delusions" and "pipe dreams" by claiming that the government would round off the New People & # 39; s Army (NPA) rebels by next year.
"Duterte is insane by claiming that he destroyed the CPP-NPA and the whole revolutionary movement of the people by the middle of next year," Sison said in an online interview from Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Sison said that Duterte "takes too much of fentanyl, so he is pipe dreaming."
Duterte admitted that he used fentanyl, an opioid analgesic that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, for the "eternal pain" as a result of a paraplegia he suffered from a motorcycle accident from the past.
On TuesdayDuterte made his daring prediction that next year the communist insurgents "will be over" because he claimed that more rebels now surrendered to the government.
"I think that, if God will have mercy, the CPP will end by the second quarter of next year," Duterte told soldiers in Melchor F. Dela Cruz Camp in Gamu, Isabela.
The president said that rebel beliefs, including their leaders, have descended from their repositories and handed over their firearms to the government.
But Sison replied that next year the president had to face the dropout with "he is now the target of the increasing hatred of people."
"It is more likely that Duterte would be expelled from power than he could destroy the revolutionary movement of the people by the middle of next year," Sison said.
"They reject the treacherous, tyrannical, murderous and corrupt nature of his regime."
"He forgets that the campaign of mass murder and massive intimidation and fake surrender and fake encounters under Oplan Kapayapaan anger people and incite them to step up their resistance," he added.
In the official news organ, Ang Bayan, issued early this month, the CPP scoffed at the failure of Duterte to fulfill his earlier vow to destroy the NPA before the end of this year.
"Duterte will fail in his ambition to crush the NPA because he is extremely isolated from the Filipino people, while his oppressed war becomes increasingly brutal and cruel, he encourages people to take up arms and resist," said CPP. / musty
