Celebrations at Westerplatte on the 79th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War



The attack on Poland started at 4.45 on September 1st. Today, traditionally at this time of the day, the largest part commemorates the events of 1 September at Westerplatte. Introduced in place just after 4 hours of military honorary assistance. Then the signal "Attention" was played and a report was made about the beginning of the ceremony. Among the gathered there is, among others, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki. Participants are officially greeted by the President of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz. A letter from President Andrzej Duda will be read during the ceremony. The defense of the Military Transit Depot on the Westerplatte peninsula lasted from 1 to 7 September. It was the first battle in the Second World War.
