The history of the rescue operation of Elisabeth Revol and Tomasz Mackiewicz was experienced throughout Poland. For the seventh time, Mackiewicz tried to get Nanga Parbat in the winter and Revol for the fourth time. This time they went on a two-part basis, they were active in alpine and sport style, without support from the carriers and without oxygen in the cylinders. The Pool did not manage to go to the camp. A French alpinist who fell apart with Mackiewicz at an altitude of about 7200 m, saved the participants of the Polish expedition to the unpopulated winter peak of K2.

They saw the Tomasz Mackiewicz tent

Participants in the Czech expedition to Nanga Parbat are convinced that they have seen a tent in which the body of Tomasz Mackiewicz is located. Is their statement reliable? Unfortunately, the climbers do not present any evidence that confirms their words.

– When we climbed the hill it was dark, so nobody thought about looking for his tent. We passed him on the way to the top and back. It was 15 meters from our main road, where probably a small part of his tent stuck out of the big iceberg. Maybe 20 or 30 centimeters – said Pavel Burda, a Czech climber.

– We have not made any photos. No one could come in and check if it was inside. Maybe someone should take pictures, but nobody wanted to photograph the remains. I walked closer to the tent. I stood there for about a minute, maybe two, and thought about what to do next – he added.

Nanga Parbat (8126 m) is one of the most demanding eight-thousands. It belongs to extremely difficult and dangerous summits. This is proven by the number of previous winners, slightly more than 300 people.
