PiS deputy Tomasz Poręba decided to check what the European Commission did with the bark beetle, which attacked the forests of Bavaria. "The Polish government in a similar situation, which recently took place in the Białowieża forest, was constantly being attacked by EU institutions and accused of destroying biodiversity" – recalls in a letter to the EC of the policy.

Last week, German media spread about the fact that Bavaria was suffering from bark, which threatens half of the stands. Germany, to protect trees, cut plants infected by the beetle. Interestingly, the local ministry claims that it is the only effective method to fight with woodworm.

The case did not escape the attention of Polish internet users, who immediately went looking for an analogy with the Białowieża primeval forest. Last year, at the request of ecological organizations, the EC challenged Poland to cut down trees that have been scrapped by PB in the area of ​​economic forests in the woodworm. "The Bavarian forests, where 142 species of life, including those considered threatened, are being cut down because of the massive breeding of the bark. (…) The Polish government in a similar situation, which recently took place in the Bialowieza forest, was continually attacked by EU institutions and accused of destroying biodiversity At the request of the EC, the EU Court of Justice ruled that Poland should immediately cease its activities in the field of active forest management "- read in the letter from the EP. The politician asks whether the activities in Bavaria comply with EU legislation, asks the committee in this connection to clarify the position on the activities in PB and asks whether there are double standards in Europe.
