They want to steal data and money
With the digital development and the increase in the number of devices connected to the internet, the number of threats in the network is increasing. You can not avoid them completely, but you can protect yourself against them if we get to know and understand the techniques that are most commonly used by cyber criminals.
The most popular method of hackers is phishing, or an attempt to extort data by pretending to be familiar and trusted institutionssuch as courier companies or banks, and even among friends. Criminals send e-mails or text messages that encourage them to click on the link and log into the page they have found, which is confusingly similar to the real one. As a result, they have access to our data and money.
How can we protect against pishing?
According to Fortinet experts, it is important to pay attention to grammatical errors and typing errors in the address of the e-mail and the sender. We must always warn of an unknown source or aggressive titles such as "Please note: you have a serious debit on your account! Please contact us immediately!". Their goal is to induce uncertainty and even fear and, as a consequence, encourage the activities that the cheater expects.
Remember that most organizations will never ask for data by e-mail. Before clicking on attachments or links in suspicious e-mails, it is worth contacting the sender.
Important is that hackers are increasingly attacking mobile devices. False applications used, among others stealing data is a very common event, especially in the case of Android. Therefore, only authenticated applications from verified sources must be installed. Before installing an application, it pays attention to suspect requests for permissions. In addition, caution is recommended when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks.
