Euro rises and trades above $ 1.16, boosted by Fed president speech



At 6:15 PM in Lisbon the euro was $ 1,12828, against $ 1.1555 on Thursday.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has set the exchange rate of the euro at $ 1.1588.

The appreciation of the European single currency was driven by the Fed chairman's speech, which was below market expectations.

Jerome Powell said today that the Fed should continue to raise interest rates if US economic growth remains strong.
