Reuters visited an informal market in the Catia area of Caracas to illustrate the hyperinflation that has destroyed the economies of the Venezuelan families. There are 2,600,000 bolívares for sale, for example a roll of toilet paper – worth only 40 cents of dollars, to values of 16 August. A pound of tomato can cost 5,000,000 bolivars. These numbers are difficult to understand without visualizing the dozens of notebooks that they represent. With every day that passes, the wages and savings of Venezuelans are losing more and more value.
