The municipality of Olhão has started to open a public tender for the modernization of city furniture throughout the province, namely the advertising of mopeds and shelters at bus stops.
According to the autarchy, the measure follows the end of the contract that the Olhanense Chamber held with the JC Decaux company 28 years ago, and that ended in 2018.
According to António Miguel Pina, president of the municipality, "a year ago contacts were made with the company in question to renegotiate on time the contract that would expire in 2018, in particular with regard to two fundamental issues for us, which are the existing ones. have replaced furniture with more modern equipment, similar to what JC Decaux has done in other countries, as well as the amounts that have to be paid for the occupation of public space and advertising. "
The consensus would not be reached at this point, with the contract being terminated and the company, consequently, to remove the urban furniture that was installed by the county.
"We immediately started opening up the public tender for the installation of shelters and mopeds, so that the municipality gets new equipment as soon as possible, more modern, more dignified and safer," says António Miguel Pina.
