The supermarket chain Lidl made the leap to online trading in Spain and created a platform for internet shopping. For the moment, the retailer wants to test the model and this service is only available in Madrid. It is only possible to purchase products such as tools, clothing or kitchen utensils.
The goal is to improve the shopping service online for later to expand it to the rest of the Spanish territory, it promotes Land.
Customers can purchase various products from Tuesday 21 May website of the chain, for the same price determined in the physical stores. The purchase online assumes the payment of a fee with a cost of 3.99 euros, regardless of the number of items purchased. Deliveries are made within two to three days.
The source of Lidl told the Spanish publication that after the test period there is the possibility to extend the service to Portugal for the entire Iberian peninsula.
Until now, the German chain was far from e-commerce and was only present in the various physical stores. The Spanish Mercadona, which will enter Portugal next year, is also testing an online sales service in Valencia.
