Production in the construction sector rose again in June, in the euro area and in the European Union (EU), both on an annual basis and in May, Eurostat said on Monday.
In the euro zone, production in the construction sector rose by 2.6% compared to June 2017 and by 0.2% compared to May this year, according to data from the official EU statistical office.
In the EU as a whole, the indicator increased year-on-year by 2.7% and by 0.6% in the chain variation (compared to the previous month).
The highest year-on-year increases in production in the construction sector were observed in Hungary (28.3%), Poland (24.2%) and the Czech Republic (8.9%), with Portugal showing a growth of 4.1 % compared to June 2017, while the only decrease was recorded in Bulgaria (-2.9%).
In comparison with the previous month, Hungary (7.2%), Slovakia (4.5%) and France (3.8%) recorded the highest increases, which were 0.8% in Portugal. while Slovenia (-5.0%) and Germany (-3.2%) had the biggest setbacks.
