Most developed cities in Romania have implemented less than 10 smart solutions, according to an analysis by the Romanian Association for Smart City and Mobility (ARSCM), which notes that Alba Iulia occupies a free-standing position in the ranking of smart projects implemented with 96 projects , while three of the first five developed cities – Bucharest, Constanta and Brasov – have implemented fewer than 10 projects, and Craiova does not have a solution.
"Paradoxically, economic development does not guarantee an investment in Smart City solutions that can significantly improve the lives of large metropolitan residents. The ARSCM has identified large differences between communities with similar development Alba Iulia leads the ranking of implemented smart projects with 96 applications, while three of the first five developed cities – Bucharest, Constanta and Brasov – have implemented fewer than 10 projects and Craiova has no such solution "says ARMSM. Timişoara and Cluj-Napoca are the only cities with the exception of Alba Iulia, which have more than 10 ongoing Smart City projects: Timişoara – 19 projects and Cluj-Napoca – 11.
"The implementation of smart digital solutions can make a decisive contribution to increasing the comfort and safety of residents in large cities The UN's IT & C Agency shows that Smart City applications account for up to 20% of daily shuttle service and back home. In one year this percentage means four days off for each person, and these solutions reduce the number of road casualties and violent crimes by 15 to 20%. "says Eduard Dumitrascu, President of the Romanian Association for Smart City and Mobility.
Smart applications and solutions, such as Smart Parking and Smart Parking, which would help to reduce congestion in the central area by at least 15%, air quality monitoring to meet European standards, video surveillance of crime areas or monitoring of illegal landfills managed with a stable telecommunication infrastructure such as the metro, and such projects also work successfully in other European capitals, said ARSM.
