According to the spokesperson for the Buzau prefect, the results of the laboratory tests refused the presence of the swine fever virus in another household in Pănătău, about 300-400 meters from the point where the disease was diagnosed.

In these circumstances, two outbreaks of African swine fever remain in Buzău County: one in Pănătău, one in Lunca, places in the mountainous area of ​​Buzău County.

Meanwhile, at the request of the prefecture and DSVSA, the Buzau police has begun an investigation to determine whether the man in Tulcea who brought pork or pork to his daughter in Pănătău a month ago, thus spreading the virus.

"A police investigation has also begun to investigate whether the virus was introduced in Buzau County via meat products from the pig in an area where outbreaks of African swine fever occur", the prefecture sent in a press release.

Originally, the inhabitants of Pănătău where the man from Tulcea came to claim that he had no pork with him. About two weeks after his visit, a pig from the household began to show signs of illness. The animal was slaughtered shortly afterwards and the owner sent a piece of meat to his mother in Lunca. Subsequently, the African swine fever virus was confirmed in both households.

Shortly thereafter, a man from Pănătău, whose household is located at 300-400 of the house where the virus was confirmed, announced that his pig might have contracted the disease, but the tests did not confirm the presence of the swine fever virus in this place.

The National Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has announced that households in the two places in the province of Buzau, where African swine fever was confirmed, were placed under official supervision.

According to ANSVSA, after confirmation of the diagnosis in pigs of two households at the places Lunca (Pătârlagele) and Pănătău in the district of Buzău, the veterinary services have intervened and immediately taken the appropriate measures in case of a diagnosis of an outbreak of swine fever and the respective households were placed under official supervision, disinfection was carried out, restrictive measures were applied for the movement of persons, animals, products, by-products and means of transport and the slaughter of the pigs from the two gopodations and the carcass discharge was arranged.

ANSVSA also says that samples for laboratory research have been collected from suspect and slaughtered animals (3 heads) and that epidemiological research is in progress.
