Victor Ponta demands that the pension increase by the new law will apply from 1 January 2019 – Radio – TV



Victor Ponta, leader of the Pro Party party, announced Saturday night in a TV show in Romania that he agrees to the increase of pensions from January 1, 2019. He will therefore submit an amendment to this when the new bill on pensions in which Parliament is being debated.

"If a new pension law is made (…) We will make a change (…) The pension law comes in. I want to support it We will vote for Pro Romania, but it will come into effect from 1 January 2019 "said Ponta, Agerpres said.

Ponta said that if there is no money to raise pensions in 2019, there will be no money in the coming years.

"If you can not increase your pensions in 2018 and say you do not have any money, then you certainly do not have to do so in 2020, 2021. (…) I will always agree with the idea that pensions should be increased.) I want it to take effect on 1 January 2019 ", said Victor Ponta.

According to the former prime minister, it is currently five million pensioners.

There is no reason why the new Pensions Act should be appealed to the Constitutional Court, since among the people working on the project were professors of constitutional nature, Minister of Labor and Social Justice, Olguţa Vasilescu a press conference.

On the other hand, it has shown that there is a willingness to accept amendments during the debates in Parliament, where appropriate.

The Minister of Labor added that the draft legislative act will be adopted by the government as a legislative proposal after having been in a public debate for 30 days and then going to Parliament. The law could be promulgated in December.
