A rally against the pension reform, organized by the Communist Party, was held on 2 September on the Sakharov Avenue in Moscow. on data "White Counter", it was about nine thousand people. In particular, the participants in the meeting paid a minute's silence to the memory of the murdered head of the self-proclaimed People's Democratic Republic Alexander Zakharchenko.
At the same time, a demonstration of "Fair Russia" was held on the Suvorov square against the increase of the pensionable age. According to the Ministry of the Interior, about 1.5 thousand people took part.
In June, the government proposed raising the retirement age for men from 60 to 65 and for women aged 55 to 63. The bill was passed by the Duma in first reading. On 26 August, President Putin, in his speech to the people, proposed reducing the retirement age for women under the age of 60.
