James Hildrith, a member of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Vaccine Advisory Committee, said on Saturday that the vaccine developed by the Pfizer-Biontech Company against the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) could begin next Friday, and in the event that a license to use the vaccine is being obtained by the administration, Bloomberg News said.
Hildrith added in an intervention with the “Weekend Today” program of the US network “NBC News” that the committee will vote on emergency use of the vaccine at its meeting next Thursday, after reviewing Pfizer’s data..
And Hildrith continued, “If the Food and Drug Administration Commissioner decides to approve the use of the vaccine on the day the vote is cast, the nationwide vaccination process may begin as early as the following Friday.“.
Hildrith’s comments come at a time when all US states are witnessing a surge in coronavirus infections and deaths.
