He added that the upgrading and refurbishment of the Shelter is part of a series of joint investments carried out by the provincial government and the city of Novi Sad, and that, as he said, this confirms the realization of the collection policy on projects of vital for the citizens of the province.
On this occasion, Mirović announced the reconstruction of the old building of the Gerontology Center in Futog, for which the provincial government has already allocated 39 million dinars.
"The socially responsible policy of the city of Novi Sad is one of the axioms of the policy that we lead and that is why we have invested together with the provincial government in investing in the future of our citizens, who need this help" said Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević.
"In this way, I think we will significantly improve the housing service in the shelter and reduce the risk of homelessness successfully, because we can meet many more needs on the territory of the city of Novi Sad and beyond," said the director of the Gerontological Center Slavica Skrbic.
The opening of the shelters was attended by provincial secretary for social policy, demography and gender equality, Predrag Vuletic and state secretary at the ministry of labor, employment, veterans and social affairs, Nenad Neric.
