Socially favorable work in schools

NOVI SAD –

With the new school year, the Ministry of Education approved a new rulebook for primary and secondary schools. The so-called "socially useful work" is added to the system of warning and reprimand, and pupils who commit minor or larger offenses can carry out certain socially useful activities. To check whether and how this policy can be applied, we visited a primary and secondary school in Ruma.

Starting this month, the new rules of the Ministry of Education came into force with regard to the application of socially useful work in primary and secondary schools, and students only get the opportunity to get to know them better.

Both psychologists and classmates already have lessons with students about the new rules.

Because the rulebook has raised a number of controversies, it is often asked what happens if the student refuses to do socially useful work.

The same rules apply to primary schools, even for the youngest schoolchildren, with the aim to raise mainly at the very first age.

For each violation committed by a student it was more difficult or lighter, a suitable work assignment would be determined, and although the Rulebook has become effective today, schools tell us that its application will be gradual.
