The New Horizons probe is about 6.4 billion kilometers away from the earth. Scientists hope that the probe will allow a better understanding of the solar system
The New Horizons probe of the American space agency Nasa has overtaken the most distant celestial body of today, discovered by humans, said scientist of the mission, Alen Stern.

"So far, no spacecraft has reached such a far reaching celestial body," said Stern at the John Hopkins Laboratory, where the probe began to fly over the body at 5.30 am local time.
The probe is about 6.4 billion kilometers away from the earth. Scientists hope that the probe will allow a better understanding of the solar system.

The American probe has to take about 900 photographs during the flight of the celestial body at a distance of about 3,500 kilometers.
