Employees of the Civil Defense Force (SCDF) of Singapore who were present at a "victim", after an exercise simulating an attack of armed gendars yesterday.
Schoten had flown earlier in Jurong West when gunmen attacked the crowd on Sunday morning at a market. Fortunately, it was only an emergency preparation exercise held next to Blok 495 Jurong West Street 41.
Jurong GRC MP Ang Wei Neng attended the Jurong Central Emergency Preparedness Day event. During the 20-minute exercise involving the SCDF and the Singapore police, about 40 residents and volunteers showed significant survival skills such as "Run, Hide, Tell" and improvised first aid skills. During the event there were also booths for visitors to learn these skills.
"In this climate, our community must contribute to the fight against terror and work with the government to prevent and tackle a terrorist attack," said Ang.
He said that the Jurong Central Community Emergency and Engagement Committee provides free lessons on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated use of external defibrillators.
